Product Focus

Swift Type is built around one primary surface: the typing workspace. Guests can start immediately, while signed-in users add cloud sync, Swift AI coaching, goals, rewards, teams, rank, and long-term progress.

The product stays local-first. Live keystrokes never wait on the server; sync, rank, goals, team completions, and Practice Mode records happen after a session is complete.

Practice Mode

Practice Mode adds a guided spiral path on top of the existing engine: 120 blocks across 8 weeks, at a recommended 3 blocks a day across 5 populated days. Blocks use cumulative review and flexible progression with repair guidance, while weekly and final mastery checks stay strict enough to protect the Swift Type mastery claim.

Guests keep local progress on the device. Authenticated users store profiles, attempts, lesson progress, and mastery checks in the database.

Certification

The path ends in one Swift Type credential. It records an authenticated, server-scored assessment on text the learner has not seen before, taken after every weekly mastery gate has been passed.

The published standard is stated exactly as it is awarded: Passed Swift Type's authenticated 2-minute unseen mixed-text keyboarding assessment at 42+ WPM and 96%+ accuracy after completing all weekly mastery gates.

Each credential carries an ID and a public verification page, so an employer or school can confirm it without seeing the holder's account. Learning the whole path is free; issuing, exporting, and verifying an official credential is a paid feature.

Typing modes

The workspace offers 5 modes — Timed, Random, Curriculum, Sentence, and adaptive Review — with Sentence drawing on 14 academic subjects. Review turns the learner's own weak keys and weak letter pairs into the next drill instead of repeating a fixed word list.

Teams

Teams let schools, cohorts, organizations, and practice groups run Swift Type together. Owners and admins manage rosters, 6-digit join codes, invite links, assignments, reports, privacy settings, and team-level AI insights.

Team Practice Mode stays a vertical slice: instructors assign lessons or mastery checks, completions link back to canonical typing sessions, and reviews/grades sit inside the team workspace.

Team Messages

Team Messages adds a lightweight room for practice instructions, announcements, and coordination without forcing teams into a separate chat app.

Messages are scoped to active team members, support pinned announcements, and can be referenced by Swift AI when a member asks what their team needs them to do.

Swift AI

Swift AI is a data-aware typing coach. It reads real session, practice, goal, reward, rank, team, and recent team-message context when available, then gives coaching without inventing metrics.

Ask Swift about weak keys, accuracy drops, Practice Mode progress, team assignments, or the next session to run. It can open panels and start configured sessions through app tools.

Document Studio

Document Studio is a focused Markdown writing surface with templates, page setup, paged preview, and export to PDF, DOCX, Markdown, or plain text. Drafts autosave to the current browser only.

Document content is not uploaded during writing, saving, preview, or export. Only a passage the writer explicitly sends to inline Ask Swift AI leaves the device.

Goals, Rank, and Feedback

Goals and streaks keep the habit alive. Swift Rank adds monthly XP across 6 tiers, medals, and detailed XP audits. Reviews, rewards, history, and settings live in side panels so the workspace stays focused.

Design and Trust

The interface uses restrained surfaces, sharp borders, 8px controls, readable type, visible focus states, and light/dark design tokens. Sensitive routes authenticate first, validate inputs, and check ownership before reading or writing user/team data.

Documentation

The public Docs page is the single product manual for sessions, Practice Mode, Teams, Swift AI, cloud sync, privacy, goals, rank, shortcuts, and installation. It is crawlable, route-based, and available from the global sidebar.
